however, in many district of Punjab statistics are very dangerous and alarming-
Average age of youth at which they consume various kinds of drugs
Local NGO worker Mr. Maheswari says-“Every month, at least two to three young lives are tragically lost to drug overdoses in our community. These aren’t just statistics; they are someone’s child, sibling, or friend. Additionally, four to five individuals are found unconscious, teetering on the brink of life, due to the devastating effects of substance abuse. The grief and helplessness etched on the faces of their families, as they cope with these heart-wrenching situations, is a painful reminder of the severity of this”.
INDIAdonates on ground partner Don Bosco Navjeevan, in a mission to fight this epidemic. Through counselling, medical camps, and rehabilitation programs, they are determined to save lives and restore hope to those who have lost their way. But they cannot do this alone.
They provide critical support to families, offering counselling to help them cope with the trauma and medical facilities to address the immediate health crises of overdose victims. Their awareness camps educate communities about the dangers of drug abuse, empowering them with knowledge to prevent future tragedies. Regular medical camps ensure that those battling addiction receive timely care and support. Moreover, they facilitate rehabilitation for addicted youth, giving them a chance to reclaim their lives and rebuild their futures.
This work comes at a significant cost—medicines, counselling fees, rehabilitation center placements, and awareness campaigns require substantial funding. Yet, each penny spent translates into a life saved, a family reunited, and a future restored.
Together, let’s create a drug-free Punjab—a Punjab where every life is valued, every youth is cherished, and every dream has a chance to flourish.
