Summary

The state of Assam has been affected by catastrophic flooding in June of 2023, which has indiscriminately destroyed homes as well as affected over 4 Lakh people. In several districts, roads, embankments, bridges, and other infrastructure have suffered significant damage from floodwaters. Displaced people are still having trouble finding adequate accommodation, so the majority of them are finding shelter on highways and in high places. Along with the lack of food & water, there is limited market access for even basic necessities. Army, paramilitary, NDRF, SDRF, local NGOs, and local population are all working together in collaborative efforts to conduct rescue operations and offer aid to the victims.

INDIAdonates’ on-ground partner Gramya Vikash Mancha (GVM) aims to provide aid to those displaced by the flood at Barpeta and Nalbari District of Assam as these districts are currently worst affected by the flood.

Gramya Vikash Mancha (GVM)will be supporting 150 most vulnerable families in each district by providing:

The primary focus will be on children, pregnant women, lactating mothers, people with disabilities, widows, women-headed families, families having major damage during the flood, those who have lost their livelihood, etc.

A contribution of INR 3340 can restore hope and rebuild shattered lives for one family
