Request for proposal from James Percy Foundation

What is it?
James Percy Foundation, London, UK has requested grant proposals.

Scope of work?
JPF mainly works for Maternal, newborn, and child health in the following ways.
Water, sanitation, and hygiene: Potential partners should note that they will be asked to provide evidence of having achieved long-term sustainability in previous WASH projects.Nutrition
Education: (They will consider education-related proposals backed by evidence of the approach’s effect on learning outcomes)

JPF does not support the following areas:
Research
Projects seeking to alleviate suffering resulting from natural or man-made disasters, including food aid or shelter delivery. The Charity’s focus is on long-term development work.
Applications relating to the promotion of religious or political causes, general appeals or circulars, individual sponsorship, events, or conferences.
 
JPF selects partners on the following basis:
To be eligible for funding potential partners must:
Be registered as a charity
Have an annual income of over £1 million or at least 5x the grant amount requested
Potential partners will be asked to demonstrate that they are not reliant on one donor for the majority of their income
Have a proven 3-year track record in addressing the relevant issue
Have an established in-country presence in the relevant country
Work in collaboration with, rather than in parallel to, the national government of the Priority Country.

Duration of the Project: Depends upon the project

Proposal Details
Focus on at least one of their Priority Countries (India is included) and Focus Areas.
Address a significant need. Potential partners should refer to recent data to demonstrate why the project is needed.
Be based on evidence. Potential partners will be asked to provide evidence of the effectiveness of the approach that they would like to adopt in a similar context.
Be sustainable. Potential partners must present a realistic assessment of the sustainability of the proposed project and report thereon.
Represent value for money i.e. economical, efficient, and effective. Wherever possible, should indicate how the proposed project’s costs compare to similar projects and show that the interventions they intend to implement are cost-effective.
Have measurable target outputs and outcomes. Potential partners should provide clear plans for monitoring and evaluating achievement against agreed targets.
Project targets must be specific, measurable, realistic, and time-bound.
Be likely to achieve impact.

Grant Amount: 
1) £100,000 and £200,000 grant per year.
2) New partners may only apply for grants up to 20% of their annual income.
