“I used to clean utensils. Today, I fix scooters.”
Megha Kharate, proud owner of a women-led garage in Indore
The Story Behind the Spark
Married at 15. A mother of four. Living on just ₹4000 a month as a domestic worker. With only a 5th-grade education, Megha Kharate believed that life had left her with no real choices.
Then one day, she heard something that changed everything-
A training program for women to become two-wheeler mechanics.
A spark lit inside her. Could she really do this? Fix scooters? Step into a man’s world with nothing but courage and curiosity?
Megha took the leap.
She enrolled in the mechanic training program under YANTRIKA, determined to rewrite her story. And she did. Today, Megha is a certified two-wheeler mechanic, running her own garage in Indore. She earns with dignity, takes pride in her skills, and stands as a symbol of possibility for other women like her.
Because when women are given tools and trust—they build futures.
That’s the power of YANTRIKA.
What is YANTRIKA?
A campaign led by INDIAdonates in partnership with Samman Social Development Society, YANTRIKA is transforming lives in Indore, Dewas & Dhar districts of Madhya Pradesh.
We're training 50 women from marginalized communities to become certified two-wheeler mechanics.Through this training, these women coming from marginalized community are not just learning a skill-they are claiming their space in the workforce, challenging gender norms, and gaining confidence to become role models in their communities. The ripple effect is powerful: when one woman rises, she inspires ten more.
This initiative is not just about employment-it’s about equity, dignity, and breaking barriers. INDIAdonates and Samman Social Development Society are proud to be part of this journey that turns tools of repair into tools of empowerment.
When women like Megha step into garages, they don’t just fix vehicles-they fix mindsets.
Our Goal
Train 50 women as certified mechanics through a structured three-month program, including:
