Summary

Chitra, a devoted mother and agricultural laborer from the small village of Kallathi in Tirunelveli District, struggles with this painful reality every single day. She and her husband work tirelessly to put food on the table, but in doing so, she has to leave her 4.5-year-old child in the care of her elder daughter. This sacrifice, though made with love, carries a heavy burden. While she tries her best to secure a better future for her children, her elder daughter is forced to miss school and abandon her dreams.

Chitra’s story is not unique. Many families in Kallathi face the same impossible choices. With no affordable childcare, parents working in low-paying, manual jobs must rely on their older children to care for the younger ones. This sacrifice robs them of their childhood and education, deepening the cycle of poverty and limited opportunities. Meanwhile, the youngest miss out on essential early development, setting them back before they even begin.

Amidst these challenges, INDIAdonates on-ground partner Rural Uplift Centre (RUC) is making a pivotal difference through its crèche program, and with your support, we can do even more.

We Aim to provide these children with:

  • Nourishment and Health: Nutritious meals and regular medical check-ups for 60 children, ensuring their well-being.
  • Quality Education Materials: Essential learning tools and resources to empower these young minds.
  • Dedicated Staff: Supporting the salaries of skilled teachers, caregivers, and coordinators who nurture and guide these children daily.

Let’s build a brighter future with no child caged behind responsibilities. By supporting RUC’s mission, you can ensure that children like Chitra’s don’t have to choose between survival and education. Together, we can break the cycle and give every child in Kallathi and Elangulam the chance to learn, grow, and thrive.
