In the villages of Chanbey Block and Mirzapur City, mothers and daughters still whisper about pain they don’t understand. Rita, a 38-year-old mother of three, started bleeding heavily a year ago. She thought it was just weakness. By the time she saw a doctor, it was too late. Rita had cervical cancer.

Like thousands of women across India, Rita had never heard of HPV—the virus that causes nearly all cervical cancers. She had never been screened. Her daughter, now 11, is still unaware that a simple vaccine could protect her from the same fate.

Every 8 minutes, India loses a woman to cervical cancer.

It’s the second most common cancer among Indian women and one of the most preventable.

That’s why INDIAdonates, in partnership with Swami Vivekanand Shiksha Samiti, is on a mission to stop it before it starts. Our campaign in Mirzapur focuses on:

• Vaccinating girls aged 9–14 with the HPV vaccine
• Screening women aged 25–65 through Pap smears and HPV DNA testing
• Breaking the silence around reproductive health in schools and community spaces

We’re not just running a campaign—we’re building a future where no woman dies of a disease that can be stopped in time.
