About the project

INDIAdonates along with its on-ground partner, SPAN, is determined to ensure that children going to

Anandadhara Shikshayatan have the basic resources to attend school.

In the late 90s, a tragic incident at the Dum Dum Landfill in Kolkata led to the death of children and their mothers, prompting the creation of Society for Peoples’ Awareness (SPAN). A dedicated team began working with the people of Pramod Nagar, a community of families displaced by development projects and forced into informal labor like waste collection. In 2000, SPAN started a non-formal education program in an empty car shed, which within two years grew into Anandadhara Shikshayatan – a four-story primary school.  Providing them the much-needed access to education and a choice to choose a different path for themselves. Today, Anandadhara educates 500 children from Nursery to Class V, providing a nurturing environment and quality education.

Anandadhara has catalyzed a transformative shift in the social and educational landscape of Pramod Nagar, depicting a fundamental change in community priorities, signalling a promising future for the children. However, limited resources are holding back these children’s education. They don’t have the basic supplies to go to school. With your contribution, you can provide a child with the essentials like notebooks, uniforms, books, stationery, and school bags, allowing them to go to school and build a brighter future.

Donate today and share the word with your friends and family! One step from you can make a big difference for them!
