On the 5th of May, a catastrophic hailstorm wreaked havoc across the state of Manipur and parts of Assam, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Thousands of homes were shattered, and the lives of countless families were turned upside down. Manipur, a region already vulnerable to natural disasters, has endured yet another blow, affecting nearly 100 villages across 9 districts.
The homes in these villages, primarily made of mud and locally sourced materials, stood no chance against the relentless force of the hail and wind.
The latest reports paint a grim picture:
Affected Families: 8,156
Casualties: 1 dead, 3 injured
In response to this crisis, Indiadonates is partnering with RNBA to provide immediate and essential relief to these families. Our focus is on 9 districts in Manipur (Jiribam, Pherzawl, Tamenglong, Noney, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, Thoubal, Kakching, Tengnoupal) and 1 district in Assam (Cachar).
Together, RNBA and Indiadonates are committed to offering infrastructural support to 100 of the most vulnerable households. These homes, with roofs made of tin, were severely damaged. We aim to repair these roofs and provide critical supplies such as bedding and mattresses to meet the urgent needs of these displaced families.
These families, including infants and elderly individuals, are now living in desperate conditions. They have lost not just their homes, but their sense of security and hope. Your support is crucial to help them rebuild their lives and restore their dignity.
