By Agency for Development Awakening and Rural Self Help Associations (ADARSHA)
In India, there are 26.8 million Persons with Disabilities and 18 million of them live in rural India (i.e. 69%). Disability is extremely challenging and a person living with it has to fight daily battles for the most basic rights. Those who have a disability and come from impoverished household face greater difficulties in getting proper healthcare facility, education and trainings for livelihood options. We can create equal opportunities for people with disabilities to create a life of dignity, opportunity, and equal status in the society.
INDIAdonates along with its partner, Agency for Development Awakening and Rural Self-Help Associations (ADARSHA) aims to improve physical, intellectual and social growth of Children/Youth with Disabilities. Through this campaign we will reach out to over 100 differently abled children/ youth of both genders below the age of 25 and their parents/caretakers belonging to ‘Below Poverty Line’ classified families residing in about 45 villages under Dakshina Kannada (Mangalore) and Udupi Districts in Karnataka.
This campaign will secure access to home based special training; medico-therapeutic health interventions, assistive devices and create disable friendly environment in homes and society. It will also work for the Protection of Rights of Children/Youth with Disabilities for quality living and inclusive development.
