The second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic wreaked havoc on the lives of Indians. According to official record, India’s death-count till the end of June, 2021 was 4,00,000, and the reality probably is catastrophically worse. Vaccination for all those eligible, at an expedited pace, is the only way to prevent a devastating third wave.

Vaccine hesitancy, lack of information, limited access to internet and other resources are keeping a large part of rural population from being vaccinated. INDIAdonates and its partner Rashtriya Jharkhand Seva Sansthan plan for a vaccination project targeting to create awareness and facilitate vaccination for 1000 hard-to-reach rural population in Satgawan block, Koderma District Jharkhand within the next 100 days. (as per data available on August 27, 2021)
According to need assessment by our partner Rashtriya Jharkhand Seva Sansthan (RJSS), in Satgawan block only 16% of the eligible population has received the first dose, less than 8% has received both doses.
The project will hold awareness campaigns to effectively motivate a population of over 20,000 for taking the vaccine, through a thorough 6 months long drive. Vaccine registration kiosks will be set up in 14 gram-panchayat areas to assist the residents in registering for the vaccination. The project will further facilitate vaccination for 1000 beneficiaries from the most vulnerable households in these villages, like women headed households, elderly people without support and poorest of the poor households completely dependent on daily wage labour, by providing them with transportation for reaching the nearest vaccination center, for both doses. These beneficiaries will also be provided with a safety kit to ensure preventative measures before and after vaccination.
A minimum amount of 450 Rs. can potentially save someone’s life by giving them access to vaccination.
