Summary

India is again grappling with 2nd wave of COVID-19 pandemic, intermittent lockdown, loss of work, reverse migration, Hunger and Starvation issues. Although nationwide lockdown has not been imposed, the fear of the same as cases surge across the country is making scores of daily-wage labourers journey back home. The entire unorganised sector which is almost 90% of our labour force, is looking ahead at a grim future of insecurity, joblessness and are being pushed to extreme poverty. In turn, poverty and income instability is giving rise to food insecurity both in rural & urban India.

While people’s purchasing capacity has reduced due to income insecurity, availability and access is also amplifying the challenges of food security. INDIAdonates through its food program will be providing food nutrition kits containing (pulses, rice, cooking oil, soybean, spices, sugar, salt) to families and individuals who are at an immediate risk of going hungry for the next one month. Each of these kits would cost Rs 1200 and would support an average family of 4, for 1 month. The more you support, the more families we would be able to reach.

Our food program is currently being implemented in West Bengal, Maharashtra, and Bihar, and we would keep adding more districts, villages and towns to reach a maximum number of families.

Let’s fight starvation together.
