Covid-19 cases are surging in Andhra Pradesh, particularly in the rural district of Prakasam district which has 22,000 active cases as of May 28. To combat this surge Baer Hospital in Prakasam, AP, is working round the clock, with limited facility to ease the caseload. The 50 bedded facility is one of the few hospitals equipped with ICU facility, serves a sprawling population of 30,0000 people from marginalised communities, from nearby villages. Since May, the hospital is visited by 25 to 30 COVID patients each day, however, due to lack of fully-functional Covid facility, they can only admit 5 patients at any given point.
