Summary

Sahil was abandoned on the streets of Delhi after his father left their family, and his mother became incapable of caring for him. In 2010, at the age of 6, he was found by Jamghat, INDIAdonates’ partner in Delhi and brought to their shelter home, ‘Aman’. Young Sahil is now enrolled in a course to become a physiotherapist. In his free time, he volunteers to help the residents of Aman home with schoolwork.

The streets of India are full of such countless stories of street children, who are left alone every day to fend for themselves. Countless children who are still on the streets fall in the hands of the traffickers, take to drugs, begging, become malnourished, and are deprived of a healthy childhood and a better future.

INDIAdonates is partnering with Jamghat- A Group of Street Children New Delhi, who run two legally recognized foster homes for children, Aman for boys and Anchal for girls. These foster homes are equipped to cater to abandoned and orphaned children, by providing them safe and secure environment, where they can thrive and reach their full potential. These homes provide these growing children with well-nourished food, education, access to both mental and physical health, and extracurricular activities. Over the last decade children from these homes are now leading a dignified life, some even joined private companies, became teachers, while many are furthering the cause of children in India.

The uncertainties brought by COVID-19 pandemic has increased the vulnerability of street children manifold. With many new residents joining the foster homes, Jamghat is in desperate need of securing food expenses for 13 children in Anchal and 16 children in Aman. Nutritious food for the children that will include breakfast, Lunch and evening snacks & dinner. Three full time caretakers each at Aman & Aanchal will be responsible for timely preparation of healthy meals and address other needs of children during their stay.

Your support to this campaign, will not only help the homes to welcome more children from the streets but also give a well-rounded life that these children deserve. With a contribution of Rs 1940 you can secure three times’ food for one child for one month.
